toolkit
staying rooted in our values through every season
In this season of polycrisis, leading and serving others has never been more important—and our ability to do so in a way that is sustainable, is rooted in each other.
Life moves in cycles—some seasons bring renewal, while others test our strength. Right now, we’re in a season that’s turbulent and painful. Institutions are faltering, the ground beneath us is shifting, empathy and compassion feel like they’re fading, and the weight of uncertainty is heavier than ever. If you feel exhausted, disillusioned, or overwhelmed, you’re not alone. The stress, the trauma, the moral injury, the institutional betrayal—it doesn’t just impact a single person or group. It impacts us all. And the thing is—we were never meant to carry it alone.
Service has too often been framed as an individual pursuit, but true service, isn’t a solitary act. It is sustained through connection, reciprocity, and care.
Through sharing our stories with each other. Just as the natural world teaches us that survival is rooted in interdependence, so too must our service be. To withstand this season—and the seasons ahead—we must recognize that our well-being is woven together.
Sustainable service isn’t about pushing through at all costs. It’s about knowing when to pause, when to heal, and when to reimagine a way forward—not just for ourselves, but for, and with, each other.
The Rooted + Resilient toolkit is for those working in service of others who are navigating this season with courage and care. It offers practical tools to help you stay grounded and connected in the face of ongoing uncertainty by:
Understanding the common forms of stress and trauma that impact those who serve
Learning how to regulate your nervous system in real-time
Providing practices for self-care and collective care
Offering reflection prompts to help you understand more about how you navigate stress and trauma
Sharing additional resources including books, essays, and podcasts curated to support you on the path to greater well-being
Simply surviving isn’t a long-term strategy for sustainable service. Meeting the current moment is about building our moral and spiritual capacity so we can stay aligned with our values and continue to serve others without sacrificing ourselves.
