our empathy card collections, books, journals, and prints are rituals of care, connection, and culture — rooted in story, made in small batches, and released with the rhythm of seasons, not markets.

the work of our slow media studio is rooted in the understanding that the human experience has always unfolded in seasons — loss, transformation, renewal, celebration — and we were never meant to move through any of them alone. the offerings we create in this space emerge from the belief that these profound moments deserve more than hurried gestures or fleeting words. every piece we create begins with a simple question:

how do we honor and care for the humanity in each other as we navigate life’s most challenging seasons?

We refuse the myth of urgency that dominates our culture. Instead, we move with deliberate slowness, crafting each offering in small, intentional batches. We believe that meaningful work cannot be rushed, that depth requires time, that the most important stories unfold gradually. Our process blends artistry with ritual, design with contemplation. Whether developing card collections that accompany someone through months of grief and loss or creating journals to explore our inner landscape, we approach each project as both creative practice and sacred service. Our commitment to care extends beyond individual exchanges to the webs of relationship that connect us to each other. Our vision and commitment is to create offerings that are beautiful, accessible, and give back to systems of collective care that sustain us all. We’re glad you’re here.

care beyond the box

A percentage of the purchase price of every one6one empathy card set goes directly to organizations doing the quiet, steady, often unrecognized work of making the world more empathetic, connected, and human.

This is built into the business model because we believe empathy, connection, and care exist inside webs of reciprocity. So, when you buy a box, care moves in more than one direction.

Written for all those who have dedicated their lives to serving others — and sacrificed their own well-being along the way. Named a distinguished favorite by the Independent Press Awards and the NYC Big Book Awards, and a #1 new release in workplace culture on Amazon, Tell Me My Story offers an honest reckoning about the cost of service — and demands a duty of care that creates the conditions for service that is sustainable and acknowledges our humanity.

seasons of caregiving

Caregiving touches nearly every life, and yet the weight of it is often borne by the caregiver alone.

For many caregivers, unacknowledged grief can feel expansive and overwhelming — grief for who someone used to be, a relationship that is changing, a future that may never be. But because these losses are ongoing, there is no funeral, no ritual, no closure. Instead, caregivers are left holding them quietly in the background, alongside other realities of caregiving like exhaustion, compassion fatigue, moral injury, fear, and a loneliness that deepens over time.

Our newest collection of love in action empathy cards are designed to be small rituals of empathy and care, meant to restore the language of connection. Each card offers an invitation to sustained presence between sender and receiver, and a way to walk alongside someone in their season of caregiving.

the story behind the studio

When my mom passed away in 2019, my sister and I traveled to India to perform her last rites, and being surrounded by family in those early days gave me something I didn't know I needed — a place to set down grief that overwhelmed me.

It was a beautiful reminder that humans have always built ceremony around loss — honored it as a part of life. A way to say this person mattered. This moment matters. We are changed by this.

When I came home, the world had continued turning as if nothing had happened. Many people didn't know what to say, so they said nothing at all. But month after month, a small group of friends kept sending cards and notes — quiet, consistent proof that I hadn't been forgotten. Those cards became a lifeline, and eventually, a calling.

Dimple Dhabalia, JD | CAPP | ICF ACC‍ ‍

I am the founder of Roots in the Clouds, author of Tell Me My Story – Challenging the Narrative of Service Before Self, and creator of love in action empathy cards.

I’ve always been drawn to liminal spaces: those thresholds we often encounter as we transition from one season to the next. My art in all its forms — writing, photography, and collage — explores what lives between grief and joy, moral injury and repair, loneliness and connection, dehumanization and compassion, the logical and the mystical, the seen and the unseen.

Shaped by my roots as the daughter of Gujarati immigrants and nearly two decades of bearing witness to the stories of refugees and asylum seekers, my books, empathy cards, journals, and prints offer rituals of care, connection, and culture and are designed to help us slow down and stay rooted in our humanity as we navigate life’s most challenging seasons.
